In her first comment on the panel, O'Connor offers this response to the question of whether she "[does her] writing along with the dishwashing:" "Oh, no. I sit there before the typewriter for three hours every day and if anything comes I am there waiting to receive it. I think there should be a complete separation between literature and dishwashing."
