Hapworth 16, 1924; Three Stories; The Uncollected Stories

[n.d.]. Three binders of seemingly pirated, unauthorized copies of Salinger's work. Fine. White binders are clean with a minimalist cover page at the front of each. All pages are clean and inside plastic sleeves. "Hapworth" is paginated 180-229 and includes a printed copy of a 1997 New York Times article by Michiko Kakutani paginated 241-244 explaining the publication history and criticizing it as a "completely charmless story." "Three Stories" is paginated [1]-38, 40 with the final page being a copy of J.D. Salinger's letter to John Woodman concerning the proofs of the stories. The titular stories are "The Ocean Full of Bowling Balls," "Paula," and "Birthday Boy." According to a 2013 International Business Times article, a file of the stories leaked onto the internet and made the rounds on torrent website. Until that leak, the stories were only available at Princeton and University of Texas. "Uncollected" is paginated [1]-245 and includes 22 stories, all of which are listed on the Contents page with where they were originally published. A valuable, albeit maybe unethical, addition to any Salinger collection. Fine. Item #4857
