New York: Scribner's, 1937. Hardcover. Early Printing. Very Good in a Good jacket, unclipped ($2.50), generally rubbed, multiple creases, closed tears, and a few chips of loss. Black buckram, lightly mottled, with green ink panels and gilt lettering on the spine and front board. Bound with a forward lean and some reading wear, toned endpapers, clean otherwise. Hemingway's fourth novel, the story of gun-runner Harry Morgan, who the jacket describes as "perhaps the most completely real masculine character that Ernest Hemingway has created." Famously adapted into a 1944 Howard Hawks film starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, her film debut. Very Good / Good. Item #5414
